Many families have Christmas traditions that they have been enjoying for years. Some Christmas traditions have been handed down for many generations. If your family doesn’t have any Christmas traditions or you want to start some new ones it’s not too late to start some that your family will love.

Christmas Family Photo Cards

Coordinating holiday outfits and having a family picture taken for a photo Christmas card is a fun idea. Think of a theme or a color scheme for the outfits. One idea is a “candy cane” theme where each family member has to wear a red or white top and jeans or black pants. Or a “silver and gold” theme where the women and girls in the family wear a silver or gold top and the men and boys wear a black top. This year buffalo plaid is on trend so have each family member wear a red and black plaid top or a white and black plaid top. Jeans and boots will complete the family look. Have your photo taken with Santa.

Driving around to see all of the Holiday Lights & Decorations

Another Christmas tradition your family will love is driving around together listening to Christmas music while you look at neighborhood Christmas lights, and then go out for dinner together. Whether it be pizza or a fancy restaurant your family will enjoy spending time together and talking about all of the festive light displays you just saw.

Christmas Family Game Night

Finally, another tradition your family will enjoy is a family game night. Have everyone wear matching Christmas pajamas and play board games, card games or a simple game of charades. One idea is to get a new game that just came out this year. Do this every year and before you know it you’ll have quite a nice collection of games. Make some appetizers or pop some popcorn to enjoy while you play games together. Make it a rule that no one can use their cell phones or devices during game night. This will ensure that everyone engages with each other and has a meaningful family night together.
