Three Awesome Tips To Deep Clean Your House For Fall
Fall is here, and that means it’s time to throw the windows open and shake out the cobwebs – literally and figuratively. With Christmas coming, that means your chances for company increases, and if your house is on the market, that means a basic level of cleanliness will keep you feeling at peace and not stressed out. It’s pretty easy to sweep or mop or dust, but there are some jobs that need to be done at least twice a year and be just forget to do them – only to realize it once company is coming and our house is much more dingy than we’d like!
Three Awesome Tips To Deep Clean Your House For Fall
- Clean your ceiling fans
- Clean your baseboards
- Clean your blinds/curtains/ draperies
Ceiling fans are known to just be terrible dirt and dust collectors. Make sure you gather your materials – preferably, a sturdy step ladder made for the purpose of standing a few feet off the ground, a microfiber cloth, some glass cleaner, and a duster. First, dust all the dirt and lint off the ceiling fan (just let it fall to the floor and clean that up later.) Then, spray your ceiling fan with glass cleaner or vinegar and water solution, and wipe down with a microfiber cloth.
Your baseboards are also terrible lint and grime collectors. Dust them off with a duster and then use a wood polish and microfiber cloth to polish them to a shine. You’ll be amazed at how it brightens your room!
Naturally, your windows need washed at intervals, so if you haven’t done that yet, now is the time. Pick a dry cloudy day to get that task accomplished. Then, take your blinds down. Depending on the type of blinds, you may be able to dust or if plastic, use some household cleaner and a microfiber cloth. If they are inexpensive paper-type blinds, you may want to pitch those and get some more. As for your curtains – what are they made of and what did the instructions say for care? Some cotton curtains you can throw into the washer, and line dry if possible. If not, they may be able to be dry cleaned. If none of the above, take outside and shake, allowing them to air out in the sunlight, and spot-treat any stains you see. Only iron curtains if you are certain they will not melt.
