If you are considering a move to the Tampa area, you might be excited to learn that State Farm Insurance and Best Places have named Tampa, Florida (St. Petersburg-Clearwater) the third most fiscally fit city in the United States. Located in Hillsborough County, this major city is near the Gulf of Mexico.
Tampa is, of course, part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area for U.S. Census purposes, so technically, it was “Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater” that made the ranks and was honored with the title of third most fiscally fit city in the United States.
Fiscally Fit Cities Report
State Farm Insurance and BestPlaces teamed up to release a Fiscally Fit Cities Report. Unfortunately the report revealed that less than half of all households in America take the steps needed to prepare for a secure financial future. Tampa households, on average, are not among these unfortunate households though. Tampa’s economy is growing. Tampa residents are making good investments, holding decent life insurance coverage and live a higher quality of life in general.

Major contributing factors to creating this list included how much savings people had and their value of bonds, stocks, mutual funds, retirement funds and CDs. It also took into account the ratio between the median home value and the median household income.
