What Does “As-Is” Mean in Real Estate?
When you’re putting your home on the market, you’ll probably ask your Tampa Bay Realtor® whether you should fix it up or sell it as-is.
But what does it mean to sell a home as-is?
What Does As-Is Mean in Real Estate?
In real estate, a home you’re selling as-is goes without you making any repairs or upgrades. The condition of the home and the amount of work necessary to make it habitable will determine your asking price – if it’s in good shape, fairly new and all the systems work well, you’re in good shape; however, if it’s falling apart, has bad floors or has other conditions that make it uninhabitable, selling it as-is might not attract the types of bids you want. Contractors and house-flippers may be among the only people bidding on the house because it’s a genuine “fixer-upper.”
Most buyers want a home that they don’t have to do much work on in order to live in it. That’s why it’s a good idea to talk to your Realtor about what you can – or what you should – do to sell yours as quickly (and at as high a price) as possible.
