[Watch] Pasco County Deputies Stop, Ticket Wave Of School Bus Passers

Florida deputies ticket drivers speeding past school bus

You may have already seen the video of dozens of drivers passing by a school bus with its red lights on. One woman’s video has gone viral in the wake of media reports of deaths around the country at bus stops. When Pasco County parents submitted video complains of this ongoing problem, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office stepped up to combat the problem.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies waited at the location of continuous multiple offenses as part of “Operation Safe Stop.” In one stop, they handed out dozens of tickets along U.S. 19 in Port Richey near Butch Street.

“It was just me for a while up here and what I was doing wasn’t that great either. I was kind of standing on the side of the road, yelling at people,” Kristen Rieger, who was one of the first parents to notify the sheriff’s department, told FOX13. “It’s not the Pasco County School District or the Board of Education’s responsibility; it’s the Pasco County community, to stop for our children.”

Another parent, Monica Douglas also recorded a series of videos documenting drivers ignoring her child’s stopped school bus. She told FOX13 that she couldn’t take it anymore, so she decided to fight back by documenting and altering the officers of the safety issue. The deputies ended up writing 30 tickets at just one bus stop!

It seems that Pasco County school bus riders just got a whole lot safer, because the viral video made it clear that passing school buses won’t be tolerated in Pasco County anymore.
