25-Story Tower Planned For St. Petersburg Near Sundial

Did you know that a 25-story mixed-used tower is planned near the Sundial shopping and entertainment complex in downtown St. Petersburg? This would be one of the tallest buildings in Pinellas County! It would even exceed the height limits of the Albert Whitted Airport horizontal zone! It would be so tall that developers would need to get a determination from the FAA stating that it wouldn’t create risks for air planes.

The tower is planned to be built at 232 2nd St. N in place of the parking lot and the building occupied by the Fit2Run runners shoe and apparel store.

The plan will add 100 residential spaces and 7,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space. If the plan goes through it will feature 218 parking spaces on the second through sixth levels. Plus, on levels seven and eight, there will be a swimming pool and other amenities!

The application to the city for this 25-story mixed use tower doesn’t say whether the residential units would be apartments or condominiums though. We’re told it’s planned by the same developers that transformed the BayWalk into Sundial.

The new development planned could also add some beauty to the area. The plans include a setback from the north and west property lines for green open place.
